I shot these photos in 1980. Finally posted them in 2016.

Today is Election Eve in the United States - tomorrow we will elect a new president. Here are photos from another election eve - in 1980! At the time, I was working in the PR department at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center in Granite City, Illinois. We heard that morning that President Jimmy Carter was going to be in town during the day for a rally. (Why his campaign thought Granite City would be a good place for a last minute pitch to voters? We never figured that out.)
A few of us grabbed cameras and hurried out to see him, thinking that this might well be a once in a lifetime opportunity. We were pretty far from the stage where Carter spoke, so even with a long lens, I wasn't able to get a good image of Jimmy. But while waiting for him to speak, I had a chance to take photos of some beautiful children in the crowd. I wonder where they are today.
